FEBRUARY 23, 2010

Effective immediately, the Kansas Board of Healing Arts has filed an Emergency Order of Suspension against the license of Ethan E. Bickelhaupt, MD for inappropriate prescribing and pleading guilty to a felony in the United States District Court. Additional information will be made public as it is available.

A Topeka Chiropractor has entered into an “Agreed Temporary Order of Suspension” with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts for a period of thirty (30) days.  KSBHA entered into a consent agreement with Robert F. Rusnak, D.C., whom holds license number 01-04412.

An Overland Park doctor has surrendered her license to the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts in lieu of further disciplinary proceedings. KSBHA entered into a consent agreement with Giselle Wildman, D.O., on September 22, 2009, in which she agreed to surrender her Kansas medical license.

SEPTEMBER 23, 2009

On September 23, 2009, an Emergency Order of Suspension was filed against Jenni A. Denton, OT.  Ms. Denton was immediately suspended from practicing as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.

The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts announces that the hearing for Douglas Geenens, D.O., will continue August 11 at 1 p.m. in the Johnson County Courthouse, Room 334. The hearing began July 13-15 in Topeka and was continued to accommodate witness availability.

The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts announces that patient medical records previously maintained by Dr. Peter Lee, Liberal, whose license was revoked in August 2008, are now being maintained by a records custodian. APRIL 3, 2009

The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts filed a disciplinary petition against the medical license of Lawrence M. Simons Sr., M.D., Wichita, this week. The disciplinary petition includes alleged violations of statute such as excessive prescribing of a controlled substance; unprofessional conduct, which includes practicing veterinary medicine without proper licensure; commission of fraud or misrepresentation in applying for or securing an original, renewal or reinstated license; and failure to keep written medical records, amongst other violations.

MARCH 9, 2009

The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts has taken action against an Andover medical spa operator for practicing medicine without a license. Stacy Truesdell and TA, L.L.C., who own and operate True Aesthetics Premier Laser and Medical Spa, in Andover, entered into a diversion agreement with the Board last week following a Board investigation.

The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts announces that patient medical records previously maintained by the Schneider Medical Clinic, 7030 South Broadway in Haysville, KS, are now being maintained by a records custodian. Patients seeking their records should send their requests to Records Custodian, P.O. Box 314, Valley Center, Kansas 67147. The records are being stored at a location in Wichita.

The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts held its bi-monthly meeting on Friday, December 5 and took several actions. In administrative actions, Board Member Myron Leinwetter, D.O., Rossville, was elected as Vice-President of the Board. A new Board President, Michael Beezley, M.D., Lenexa, was elected in October following the resignation of Vinton K. Arnett, D.C., Hays. The Board also discussed pain management amidst nationwide discussion. The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts has filed a disciplinary petition against Dr. Douglas Geenens, D.O., Overland Park, with the Office of Administrative Hearings.

The Board of Healing Arts received complaints alleging violations in standards of care, the prescribing and dispensing of prescription drugs as well as boundary issues.  The petition filed alleges 23 violations of statutes.

The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts has received a request for continuance regarding a hearing on the emergency suspension of the medical license of Pravin Sampat, M.D., Topeka. The hearing, which was scheduled for October 24, has not been rescheduled at this time. Dr. Sampat’s license remains suspended.
